The museum's main theme is “The Journey of Life,” and it presents the evolution of life on Earth alongside exhibits on human history.

The museum contains a Natural History Zone that contains around 4,500 items, including fossils and other paleontological discoveries.

This zone is broken down into several rooms, including the “Time Traveling Room,” which takes visitors back to Kitakyushu in the Cretaceous period. Another room is dedicated to the history of Earth and life, with prehistoric exhibits from the Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and Cenozoic eras.

Meanwhile, the History Zone contains anthropogenic specimens such as earthenware and ancient texts. The room is broken down into several sections by themes, such as local festivals, local culture, and the history of Kitakyushu.
