An 8,000-piece mirror on Fukuoka Tower. A giant aquarium with about 6,000 fish.
The Waterfront is located alongside Hakata Bay, extending between the Chikkou ramp and the Momochi ramp of the Urban Expressway. The site is an amusement theme park filled with futuristic architecture, which is divided into several zones such as the Seaside Momochi, Hawks Town, and the Bayside Place Hakata Pier.
At the Seaside Momochi, a futuristic city space zone, the 234-meter-tall Fukuoka Tower is covered with 8,000 pieces of half-reflecting mirror, illuminated in all kinds of colors depending on the season. There is a coffee shop atop the tower overlooking the city of Fukuoka and Hakata Bay. You can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view from there.
Hawks Town, with a swivel-roofed all-weather baseball stadium, the Fukuoka Dome, as its main facility, is lined with a variety of shops, restaurants serving authentic Japanese, European, or Chinese cuisine, and cozy cafeterias.
The Bayside Place Hakata Pier is a marine terminal for the regular service ferries for Tsushima Island and Hakata Bay cruise boats. Inside the fashionable terminal building is the gigantic 8-meter-tall "Aquarium," which has some 6,000 fish, a great attraction for visitors. The symbol of the port of Hakata, the Hakata Port Tower, has an observatory 70 meters above the ground, from which you can view the port and the streets of Fukuoka for free.
