Island filled with flourishing greenery and flowers fostered by range of mountains, surrounded by the world’s most beautiful sea with coral reefs
Tokashiki Island is located at 30 km west from the main island of Okinawa, in the East China Sea. This small island extending 9 km north to south and 2.8 km east to west is surrounded by one of the most beautiful seas in the world. This sea area of 353 ha including Zamami Island is designated as one of the valuable marshes in the world prescribed in the Ramsar Convention.
The biggest attraction of this island would be definitely marine leisure without any doubt. Tokashiku beach and Aharen beach are our best recommend for its peaceful and calm seashores filled with beautiful coral reefs. You can enjoy full range of marine sports from scuba diving and skin diving to watch colorful coral reefs, to sea kayaking, surfing, and fishing. Whale watching is another popular leisure in winter when humpback whales come by the sea near the island.
Onshore, there lies a range of mountains over 200 m high inside the island. There are two paths and a number of view decks for trekking and driving, and you can enjoy abundant greenery and vivid colors of subtropical plants and flowers on the way. You will also find pleasure while having local foods like fresh fish or citrus fruit grown in its sunny environment, and having great time with the residents through local festivals. This is the place you should definitely visit once in your life!
