What is the Yayoi Festival
The Yayoi Festival is an annual celebration of the coming of spring.
History of the Yayoi Festival
This festival has been running for 1200 years, and people celebrate it for good luck in the coming year.
What to expect from the Yayoi Festival
Expect a lot of pink colors from people and the whole event itself as the color represents cherry blossoms. Still, traditional rules and customs are applied.
Enjoy watching the twelve stunning floats as they go around town, as well as listening to Japanese music and hanging out with other locals and tourists.
When it is held
The Yayoi Festival happens from April 13 to 17 annually.
During the five-day event, the grandest celebration happens on the last day, when beautiful floats are paraded around town.
Where it is held
Yayoi Festival takes place at the Futarasan Shrine, which is easily accessible via bus. Take the world heritage tour bus from Nikko Station or Tobu Nikko Station directly to the shrine.
You can also take a long 45-minute walk from Nikko Station.
