Take JR Sanin Main Line from JR Kyoto Station (Sagano Line) bound for Sonobe (about 15 minutes by the local line/about 10 minutes by the limited express) and disembark at Saga-Arashiyama Station.

Arashiyama Bamboo Grove

 A magical bamboo forest road surrounded by a soothing green light. "Arashiyama Bamboo Grove" is a famous tourist and photo spot in Kyoto. Walk down this road wrapped inside a magical green color for an unforgettable experience. Take a rickshaw ride and explore the place while listening to history.
In December, thousands of lanterns are lit around the Arashiyama area at night for "Hanatoro" festival where temples, shrines and the bamboo grove are lit up.

Eikando Zenrinji Temple

 "Eikando (Zenrinji Temple)" is famous for autumn colors. In autumn, tourists visit the temple not only at day-time, but also at night to experience the autumn colors that look magical when the temple is illuminated.
Eikando is a wonderful place to visit not only in autumn but throughout the year. It was originally the home of nobles then it became a Buddhist temple in the year 853. You will find many cultural things there such as Mikaeri Amida statue.

How to access

Yudofu (boiled tofu)/Japanese Sake

 Kyoto, where there are number of temples and shrines, tofu has been used as a vegetarian food for a long time. For this dish, tofu is boiled in kelp soup base, then eaten with spices and broth. "Yudofu" is the best way to really enjoy the essence of tofu.
Kyoto is also famous for its sake. Try some delicious local Kyoto sake along with Yudofu.
