Oita Prefectural Art Museum (OPAM)

Oita, Kyushu

The brand new Oita Prefectural Art Museum opened in April 2015. Its architecture is designed by a world famous architect Shigeru Ban, who received much attention for the design of the French gallery Centre Pompidou Metz. The collection of OPAM focuses on works by artists who have a close association with Oita Prefecture. This includes modern landscape Nanga style paintings by Chikuden Tanomura, as well as works of the modern Japanese-style painters Heihachiro Fukuda and Tatsuo Takayama.
