How to Get There

The area is most easily accessed by bus or car.

From Noboribetsu Station, take a bus or drive (15-20 minutes). Parking is available at the onsen hotels or in smaller public parking lots.

From Sapporo, Noboribetsu is 90 minutes to two hours by train.

The mineral-rich waters of the area that bubble up from the ground are renowned for their healing properties. Milky-white sulfur-infused waters soften and refresh the skin. Spending a day in the baths can be not only relaxing but also revitalizing.

Stretch your legs

Before or after your bath, take a walk around the shops in town or through Jigokudani (Hell Valley) . See where demons are rumored to boil the waters of Jigokudani. Hike through trees that enjoy the warmed earth in the unique primeval forest, and look across to the clear waters of Lake Kuttara .
