This Romanesque chapel built with Oyaishi stones was founded in 1932, and is proud to be the largest existing buildings built with Oyaishi stones, igneous stones only found in this area.
The interior of the church is decorated with a lot of Oyaishi stones, producing a unique atmosphere. A pipe organ is also being installed inside.
The church is illuminated at night from sunset to 8:30 pm.
* Oyaishi is a generic name for the rhyolitic breccia tuff that can be mined around the area of Oya Town, Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture. It has traditionally been used as the building material for structures such as outer walls and storehouses because of its softness and ease of processing.

A lot of Oyaishi stones are used also for the interior. The altar for holding Mass is set at the front. A pipe organ is installed at the back of the altar.
