A modern art museum for the people

The grid-like building of the Saitama Museum of Modern Art, also known as MOMAS, sits among the lush greenery of Kita-Urawa Park. Designed not only to exhibit art, but to promote artistic activity among the citizens of Saitama, the museum is a fantastic space to enjoy and be inspired by.

How to Get There

The museum is easily accessible by train.

From Tokyo Station, get to JR Kita-Urawa Station by the Keihin-Tohoku line, about 35 minutes. Leave via the west exit and walk for three minutes to the museum.

Modern art, modern space

The museum focuses on displaying works of art by modern Western and Japanese artists. From Picasso, Rouault, Renoir and Chagall to local artists, there is an excellent range of national and international art on display. In addition to the regular exhibits, the museum has special exhibitions based on unique themes. The museum itself is a work of art. Walk through and appreciate the unique building with many open spaces and areas of natural lighting.

Made for everyone

MOMAS hosts a variety of activities for the community. It has children's programs and exhibitions of the work of local citizens. There are also lectures and workshops that are open to the public.

Entry is just 200 yen for adults and 100 yen for high school and university students. Junior high school students and younger can visit for free. There are additional charges for special exhibits.
