In Japan, organizations at different levels such as the Japanese government, local authorities and NPOs have worked on the development of an accessible travel environment for everyone including people with disabilities and/or special needs.
Some of the major tourism destinations have websites in English which provide the information of access from Tokyo to the destinations and the accessibility of accommodations, tourist facilities, restaurants, etc. for people with disabilities and/or special needs. In some of the destinations, rental service such as wheelchairs and bathing/showering facilities and assisted bathing service are also available.
Please check the websites of those tourism destinations when you plan a travel to Japan and when you are actually in Japan.
