SOUVENIR FROM TOKYO at the National Arts Center, Tokyo

This energetic shop has all sorts of interesting items from manga to art books and art objects by artists famous and unknown from all corners of the world. There is also a gallery space where works by artists selected by the shop are regularly displayed and sold. Some everyday products have been radically reinvented, such as the playful animal face masks, or the 3kg iron dumbbells painted like traditional kokeshi dolls. The humorous, rather awkward "Korejanai" robots are another bestseller. "Korejanai" means "This is not it!," as kids say when they get what they did not expect.
