Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale (Art Field)

In this area, known for its extremely heavy snowfalls, around 160 artworks by artists from all over the world are installed in rice fields, vacant houses and closed schools, and performances are held in paddies and other natural environments.

The Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale is held every three years, with the next one planned for 2015. In the years between, a "Festival of the Earth" is held in the summer, and a "Snow Art Project" in winter. Along with the artworks, visitors will experience the warmth and hospitality of the local people.
