Grand Sumo Tournament

There are six annual tournaments, each lasting for 15 days. The tournaments are held in Tokyo in January, May and September, in Osaka in March, in Nagoya in July, and in Fukuoka in November. During the tournament, matches are televised daily from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Matches by junior wrestlers begin at around 9:30am, by senior wrestlers at around 3:00pm.

Advanced tickets are sold from around one month before the tournament.

Unreserved Seats:
¥2,100. Unreserved Seat tickets are sold only on the day at the Ryogoku Kokugikan starting at 8:00am 350 tickets (rear seats on the second floor) are available for each day.

Tickets for the Tokyo Sumo Tournament are sold at the office of the Nihon Sumo Kyokai at Kokugikan Sumo Hall in Ryogoku as well as at Ticket Bureaus in downtown Tokyo.

Ticket Oosumo
Tickets for the Grand Sumo tournaments which are held at Tokyo’s Ryogoku Kokugikan three times a year (January, May and September) can be reserved from overseas.

* To purchase tickets visit TICKET OOSUMO and complete the required fields.
Ticket Pia will send confirmation of ticket reservation or unavailability of ticket by email within 96 hours.
* Purchase is by credit card only (Visa, MasterCard, Diners, JCB, NICOS).
* All reservations incur a handling fee.
* Tickets are picked up on the day of the tournament from the counter adjacent to the ticket office at the Ryogoku Kokugikan.
