Shodoshima Olive National Marathon

The Shodoshima Olive National Marathon is held in May and offers participants a chance to catch a brisk morning breeze while taking in the sights of the temperate Seto Inland Sea.

This marathon is also favored by runners as an event that boasts a warm personalized flavor instilled by local volunteers.

Entry qualifications:
20 years of age and older; foreign runners are also welcome to participate

Shodoshima Olive National Marathon


Olive Park

Shodo Island is the cradle of olive cultivation in Japan. Olive Park is home to olive trees and herb plants as well as a Greek-style building, windmill, and cottages.

In 2008, celebrations will be undertaken to commemorate the centennial of the successful planting of olive saplings in Shodoshima.
