Highlights

Kakuzan Park

Kakuzan Park stands on the ruins of a castle built in 1616. When the castle structures were torn down in the 1800s, 5,000 cherry blossom trees were planted in their place. The park has been selected as one of the 100 most notable spots for cherry blossom viewing in Japan.

Joto Area: Townscape Preservation District

The Joto area grew according to an urban plan implemented during the Edo period and is presently a district whose townscape is preserved by residents.

Visitors can explore local buildings and the Tsuyama Archives of Western Learning, where medical and scientific documents of that time are kept. On the first Sunday of November of each year, a festival to recreate life during the Edo period is hosted by residents.
