Visitors can try their hand at hand-painting Hakota dolls, a local toy, or making and hand-painting traditional Japanese kites. Other options include ceramics, sake warehouse tours, and tours of splashed-pattern weaving facilities. (Reservations required.)

Kurayoshi is the setting for "Harukana Machi E" (A Town Far Away), a comic that has won numerous awards in Europe and elsewhere. This comic has been published in France, Italy, Spain, South Korea, and Taiwan. An investigative tour of parts of the town as they appear in the comic is also offered. (Fee charged.)
