The Streets of Kumagawajuku-
Kumagawajuku attained strategic importance in terms of transportation and military purposes in the Warring States Period of medieval times (15th to 16th centuries) and was developed as a post town. It subsequently flourished as a relay point on a route used for the delivery of maritime products and other goods between the sea and Kyoto.
Kumagawa Ippuku Jidaimura-
Kumagawa Ippuku Jidaimura is a large event held in October with the aim of promoting contact between visitors and residents. This festival of food prepared mainly with mackerel and kuzu draws hordes of tourists who enjoy themselves immensely as they interact with local residents.
