The Symbol Of Kusatsu, The Yubatake Hot Springs Source Well-
The high quality of the hot spring water and the abundant volume of water discharged from the source well has made the hot springs very popular. Many young people come to the resort, where you can take walks in the city following the historic sites in Kusatsu Onsen or go hiking on Mt. Shirane and enjoy the rich natural environment.
Drawing Water From The Source Well-
Held annually from the 1st through the 3rd of August, the Onsen Kansha Matsuri (Hot Spring Thanksgiving Festival) is the main event of Kusatsu-machi. This festival is held to give thanks to the hot springs source well that has been active from time immemorial.
A ceremony dedicated to the goddess that pumps up the hot water at the source well is held at the Yubatake plaza in the center of the town and there are other events too, like a popular song show, etc.
Sai no Kawara Park-
There are hot springs source wells spotted all over Sai no Kawara Park, and the hot water merges to form a hot water river. Known as a place of scenic beauty, the hot springs gush out of the craggy lava boulders and form ponds, creating a spectacle of wilderness.
At present, as a public park, the scenery is well maintained and it is very popular for taking walks. There is also an open-air hot spring located in the very back of the park.
