Tochigi Autumn Festival

Known as the Little Edo and as a warehouse town, Tochigi carried on a brisk maritime trade with the ancient capital city Edo (presently Tokyo) and it also prospered as a post town on the ancient Nikko Reikishi Kaido (historical road).

The Tochigi Autumn Festival, held in alternate years, features a procession of dazzling doll floats down the streets of the city.
