Furano and Biei (Biei-cho, Kamifurano-cho, Nakafurano-cho, Minamifurano-cho, Shimukappu Village, and Furano City, Hokkaido)

This is a large-scale mountain resort where you can enjoy nature to the full in any season. In summer, you can enjoy golf, tennis, and other outdoor sports, and in winter, you will find dynamic ski slopes. There are also a wide variety of participation-type programs conducted in winter, and you will find the snow and ice bridges fantastic.

This is a popular hot springs resort area and it is the first place in Japan to show the colorful leaves of autumn. The views of the mountains and the pastoral scenery spread out under the sea of clouds is a special sight.

In this region you can enjoy rafting, fishing, and canoeing in the Lake Kanayama lakeside region, as well as canyoning, and fishing for wakasagi, a fish found in Japan that looks like a smelt.

This resort is known for its excellent powder snow and its high ratio of days with a clear sky. The resort features a number of courses available for both beginners and experts. The facilities for after-ski relaxation are also excellent.

This famous flower spot is representative of Hokkaido, and in summer (July) when the flowers are in bloom, the scenery looks like a carpet of blossoms woven like patchwork on the rolling hills.

With the formation of the Furano Tourist Association, support for information in foreign languages and exchange programs has been increased and there are also ski hosts and volunteer guides that will provide support for walking alone in the area.
