Lake Toya (Sobetsu-cho and Toyako-cho, Hokkaido)
The Lake Toya area has a wealth of attractive natural resources, including volcanoes, lakes and hot springs, and it is one of the prominent hot spring resorts in Hokkaido, which has more than 200,000 foreign visitors every year. There are many tourist facilities available that have guidebooks and the like in many foreign languages. Famous for its beautiful landscape and rich natural resources, Lake Toya, was chosen as the site of the G8 Summit held in 2008.

Lake Toya Onsen And Sobetsu Onsen-
The natural hot springs in the Lake Toya area were formed by the volcanic activity of the volcanoes surrounding the resort area, and it is said they have restorative effect for fatigue and are good for beautiful skin. It is indeed a special experience to view the spectacular landscape while taking a bath in the hot springs. There are also 14 free hand and footbaths, so you can easily experience the effects of these famous hot springs.
Lake Toya Onsen Summer Festival-
This festival takes place over a period of about a month and a half, from the middle of July to the end of August. You can also rent a stylish "yukata," a light cotton kimono, at your lodgings and take part in the festival. There are fireworks displays every night, and the festival is popular as a display of traditional Japanese culture and as a forum for exchange with the local Japanese people.
Mt. Usu Nishiyama Crater Walkway-
Mt. Usu is an active volcano that erupts repeatedly every 30 years, bringing a rich natural environment to the area. There is a walkway up to the Nishiyama crater, which last erupted in 2000, so you can see it right up close. You can also take a guided hiking tour (fee required) and learn about the natural features and history of the area from your nature guide.
