While extending a warm welcome to you this Autumn, I would also like to take this opportunity to express the great joy felt in Japan that Tokyo has been selected to host the 2020 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.
As was reported in many of the world’s media, reasons for Tokyo’s selection included the city’s capacity to host such an event, the safety and security of Japan as a country, and the hospitable spirit of the Japanese people.
Heartfelt hospitality is one of the many agreeable experiences that awaits all visitors to Japan this Autumn.

Japan awaits you with dazzlingly beautiful displays of autumnal colour
and an abundance of delicious seasonal ingredients

Japan is a country blessed with both scenery and a cuisine that change dramatically with each season.

Autumn in particular, with its clear blue skies, its yellow, red and golden leaves and its snow-capped mountains, is a season of colourful exuberance. It is the time of year when Japan is at its most beautiful, with magical scenery that will steal your heart away.

Autumn is also a season of plenty. It is the perfect time of year to sample, as well as the better-known wagyu beef and sashimi, fresh oysters and lobsters, sweetly crisp apples and pears, smoky matsutake mushrooms, versatile buckwheat and a host of other ingredients that go into the cuisine for which Japan has become renowned the world over.

I would like every person in the world to come and experience for themselves all that Japan has to offer - amazing scenery, cuisine, shopping, and a unique blend of traditional culture and pop culture.

Using the Web and Social Networking Sites (SNS), it is our role at the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) to introduce Japan to the people of the world, and to highlight Japan’s uniquely attractive qualities, which can be enjoyed in safety and in comfort.
