Yokohama Hakkeijima SeaParadise
Enjoy “the Sea" to the full at the island amusement park floating in the sea
Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise is a huge man-made island with the area of 240 thousand square meters. On the island, there are “Aqua Resorts" which consists of three aquariums and an amusement park, “Pleasure Land" as well as restaurants, shops and a hotel.
The best feature is “Aqua Resorts," the three aquariums. The first one is “Aqua Museum" which is one of the largest aquariums in Japan, and 100 thousand creatures of 500 species live there. Aqua Museum has a distinctive pyramid-like appearance and consists of five floors. Visitors can become familiar with every creature living in and by the sea holistically including various saltwater fishes, polar bears and flowers of the sea. Above all, whale sharks, the largest fish in the world, exhibited in a water tank for the first time in eastern Japan gain attention swimming calmly in pairs.
The second one is “Dolphin Fantasy" featuring dolphins. By making the tank in the shape of a tunnel, visitors can see dolphins swimming as if they are looking up at them from under the sea in natural light.
The third one is “Fureai Lagoon (interaction lagoon)" where visitors can actually interact with sea creatures. While respecting the environment in which creatures can live freely and easily, the walls between people and creatures are taken down as much as possible. Visitors can interact with dolphins by putting their hands in the tank and enter the sea reproduced in the facility to play with fishes.
At the amusement park, “Pleasure Land," visitors can enjoy wide variety of attractions. Attractions include thrilling rides such as “Blue Fall" which is a vertical drop ride featuring the biggest drop in Japan and romantic rides such as a merry-go-round with handmade carriages and wooden horses.
Yokohama is an area where various tourist attractions are found such as a zoo and Shin-Yokohama Raumen Museum in addition to Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise. It is a popular area which you want to take lots of time to enjoy.
