Art Tower Mito is a cultural complex established in commemoration of Mito City's 100th anniversary. The director is Mr. Yoshida, a music critic. The complex consists of a concert hall, a contemporary art gallery and a theater. An artistic director is appointed for each field which is music, art and play.

The concert hall is dedicated for classical music. The artistic director is Mr. Hatanaka. The concert hall is a home of the Mito Chamber Orchestra and the New League of David, a chamber music ensemble. Appointing Seiji Ozawa as a musical advisor and an occasional conductor, The Mito Chamber Orchestra gains attentions.
The contemporary art gallery consists of 9 exhibition rooms and its artistic director is Mr. Asai. The gallery holds mainly self-planned exhibitions and features exhibitions with a strong theme. It is also active in finding young artists and holds a series of solo shows featuring the artists in their 20s and 30s.
Various items such as contemporary plays, Noh plays and rakugo (comic story telling) are performed at the theater. The artistic director is Mr. Matsumoto. It is a home of the theatrical company called ACM. New plays and performances produced by the theater are also performed here.

In the middle of the complex, there is a huge lawn yard where outdoor concerts and flea markets are held.
The tower which is 100 meter high is symbolic of Art Tower Mito. Visitors can enjoy a great view from the observation room.
