Edo-Tokyo Museum was opened
in March 1993 as a site where you can look back to the history and
culture of Tokyo, while reflecting on the city and life of future.
At the permanent exhibition center, you can see various large models
reproduced based on through researches and studies as well as actual
and reproduced materials covering a period of about 400 years from
around 1590 when leyasu Tokugawa, the first shogunate entered Edo(the
old name of Tokyo) until 1964, the year of the Tokyo Olympic.
Planned events include theme specific exhibitions, scheduled four
times a year, and various lecture courses. The museum is equipped
with convenient facilities such as the Audio-visual hall, Audio-visual
library, and reading room, and provides a site where anybody can
learn the history and culture of Tokyo in an interesting environment.
Rental halls, conference rooms, and study rooms are also available.
