Many excellent old mansions
and stores remain on the streets of Gokasho-cho. Particularly, the
section of Kondo is nationally known as the cradle of Ohmi merchants,
who built the basis of the modern Japanese economy. Today in Kondo,
the principal residences of merchants beautifully harmonize with
Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples. |
