Comment This museum with its exclusive collection of lacquer art is located in Wajima, a town renowned for its beautiful lacquer crafts. The museum building resembles the Shosoin treasure house and is surrounded by a spacious garden, creating a serene atmosphere. Besides local Wajima-nuri lacquerware, the domestic collection ranges from past to present masterpieces created by various lacquer artists, including Living National Treasures and members of the Japan Art Academy. Visitors can also study lacquer culture worldwide, especially using the collection here assembled from all over Asia. A variety of special exhibitions held at regular intervals ensure that each visit offers something new.
