The center is a science museum
aimed at explaining in simple terms the most advanced bridge-building
technologies that were used for the construction of the Honshu-Shikoku
bridges, including Akashi Kaikyo Ohashi Bridge, the world's largest
suspension bridge. A tour gives an insight into flexible designs
that withstand strong windstorms and massive earthquakes, building
technologies for undersea construction, and the development of lightweight,
strong materials etc. A variety of picture panels, both miniature
and actual-size models and the latest visual images explain how
the long-awaited dream to connect the islands was made possible. |
