This famous sake brewery dates
back to the Kanbun period (1661 - 1673) in Itami. The clear, crisp
taste of Otokoyama sake is attributed to the permanent snow of the
nearby Daisetsu Mountains and the severe coldness of the winters
here, an important factor in sake brewing. Otokoyama has won several
gold awards in international and domestic liquor competitions. Its
traditional brewing style has been passed down through the generations,
and in the Edo Period, it won praise from the household of the Shogun
and was also depicted in famous Japanese prints. |
