Soba-making classroom within the Nakayama Crafts Village. Attentive instructors spend two hours teaching guests how to make buckwheat noodles (soba). Aprons and wooden clogs (provided free of charge) make student-guests feel like professionals. Offering chances to try their hands at things like woodwork, the Crafts Village is fun for children and adults alike. The Konekone-tei is a fine place to eat soba. The souvenir department has a full range of fresh mountain herbs, and refreshing treats are on sale at the Sherbet House. From hand-making to sampling buckwheat noodles. Reservations required. Instructions in Japanese only. From 40 to 50 people per group. No reports of allergic reactions to buckwheat have ever been received. The organization has plenty of experience with students and home-stay visitors from abroad.
