One of Japan's most historical
sites, Sannai Maruyama is located in the south-west of Aomori Prefecture.
This village was inhabited from around 3500 BC in the early Jomon
Period to 2000 BC, in the mid-Jomon Period. Visitors can experience
the changes in the village and people's lifestyles through remains
excavated from the site. In November 2000, the village was listed
as a national archeological site. Today a large structure supported
by pillars, symbol of the village, and 10 tombs have been restored.
The complex also has an exhibition room, a hands-on experience room,
kiosk, restaurant and rest area. |
