An intricate coastline that bears uniquely-shaped rocks and small islands. A cape that shines in sunset gold.
Nishi Izu (West Izu) faces Suruga Bay on the west coast of the Izu-hanto Peninsula, and consists of a plains area through which Nishina-gawa River flows into Tago Port, and includes several islands, such as Sanshiro-jima. Along the rocky coastline is Dogashima, a hot spring.
The approximately 2-kilometer-long Dogashima-kaigan Coast, from Sebama to Cape Ajo, is a scenic place representative of Nishi Izu, with a cape of towering cliffs and an intricate coastline that features uniquely shaped rocks and small islands. A "Tonboro Phenomenon," induced by the ebb and flow of the tide, allows you to walk from Sehama-kaigan Coast to Sanshiro-jima Island at low tide. Boat service is also available from the Dogashima-onsen, a popular marine leisure spot for swimming and fishing. You can enjoy a Dogashima Island Caves Tour that will take you around several islands, such as Jya-jima and Hie-Sansho-jima, as well as to the Tenso-do Cave that was created by sea erosion.
On the northern side of the Dogashima-kaigan Coast is the Golden Cape, named for its golden color at sunset. Created by volcanic lava that slid down into the sea, it is a cape, known for its rugged scenery, displaying powerful white capped waves that pound against the towering cliffs. Many tourists visit this spot.

1h 5 min to Mishima Station by JR Tokaido Shinkansen Line. 33 min from Mishima to Shuzenji Station by Izu-Hakone Sunzu Line, and 1h 5 min from Shuzenji Station to Dogashima by bus.
From Osaka:
2h 50 min from Shin-Osaka to Mishima Station by Shinkansen.
