Ina, in the south of Nagano, is located between the Central and Southern Alps along the Tenryu-gawa River. The city prospered for many centuries as the main settlement along the Ina-ji Road, an important thoroughfare.

Kasuga-koen Park is situated on the small hill overlooking the city. The park, which contains the ruins of Kasuga Castle, is renowned for its flowers, with around 200 cherry trees and 20,000 azaleas. At the Miharashi Farm at Habiro Agricultural Park, visitors can enjoy picking fresh strawberries, and the enormous 10-hectare site also includes public hot spring facilities and lodgings. Visitors can also experience making bamboo crafts, dyeing with vegetable dyes, weaving, and making soba noodles.

In the vast nature, you can enjoy free flight paragliding (a license is required) or camping. At the Rally-Kids Ina motor sports facility, you may want to try some other kinds of outdoor activities such as driving a go-cart or mini-bike. Ina is also known for its special cuisine and culture: They serve several insect dishes there, such as locusts and baby bees, 'Romen' noodles with mutton, as well as horsemeat dishes.
