The Japan Current washes this southernmost cape. A leisurely stroll brings visitors many views of this beautiful region, both day and night.

Cape Sata, located at the end of the Osumi-hanto Peninsula on the southernmost end of Kagoshima, is a peninsula with an atmosphere like that of some southern countries, with sheer sea cliffs washed by the Japan Current. Cycads, which are designated as Natural Monuments, grow wild there, and the cape belongs to Kirishima-Yaku National Park.

Along the approximately 9-kilometer-long drive from O-domari to Cape Sata, you can enjoy an atmosphere like that of some southern countries, and view subtropical plants, such as hibiscuses standing in rows. At the tip of the cape, a 15-minute-walk from the terminus of the drive, is an observation spot surrounded by glass panes on all sides, from which you enjoy a panoramic view, as if you were looking down from the sky.

The Satadei, a semi-submarine-type underwater observation boat, can be boarded at Tajiri Port for a leisurely marine stroll. The sea area around Sata-misaki Marine Park is influenced by the Japan Current, and the water is warm and transparent. Through the glass windows of the observation boat you can enjoy a view of another world filled with colorful corals and tropical fish. Kamino-kawa Waterfalls Park is located on the upper stream of the Kamino-kawa River that flows from east to west through Kinko Town, and the breathtaking sight of water cascading off the sheer cliff down 25-meter-high waterfalls is one of the highlights.
