Originally held in 1986, the event has now become the annual delight of Sendaifs winter season. Row of star-spangled zelkova trees on the main streets of Sendai is an enchanting beauty. On Dec 23rd, the streets get warmed up as the people dressed in Santa Claus costumes march in a parade.

Different light scenes highlight the Roppongi Hills, one of the most fashionable and happening spot in Tokyo. At Keyakizaka-dori Street, the main street, clear white & blue LEDs cover the row of zelkova trees. The g66 Plazah main entrance is adorned with the warm and elegant orange lights. Wandering into the Mohri Garden, great gingko tree transformed into a Christmas tree will welcome you.

Since Dec. 1995, the breathtaking rows of light art have been displayed every year to commemorate both the 6000 victims of 1995 Hanshin/Awaji earthquake and the reconstruction of Kobe. This year, Kobe Luminarie marks its 10th anniversary. With over 200,000 lights, the event is expected to attract millions of people from all over Japan.
