Japan is situated in northeastern Asia between the North Pacific and the Sea of Japan. The area of Japan is 377,873 square kilometers, nearly equivalent to Germany and Switzerland combined or slightly smaller than California. Japan consists of four major islands, surrounded by more than 4,000 smaller islands.

Juni-shi

Jûnishi is the twelve signs of the oriental Zodiac. They are related to the date, the time of day, and the compass directions.
Jyukkan-Jyunishi
The Jûnishi is not used as a calendar in Japan today, but everybody knows the animal representing the year in which he or she was born. When the sign of a particular year is the same as a man's birth sign, he is termed toshi-otoko, while a woman is termed toshi-onna.
