Light Up Promenade Nara 2005 will be held from July 1 to October 31. During this time, Nara’s many historic buildings, including Todaiji Temple, the five-storied pagoda of Kofukuji Temple, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, Yakushiji Temple, and the Heijo Palace site’s Suzaku-mon Gate, will be brightly lit up and draw visitors into their beautiful, mysterious world. Additionally, from August 6 to August 15, Nara will hold the To-kae lantern festival, an event in which 12,000 candles illuminate Nara Park at night. With a total attendance of over 700,000 last year alone, To-kae is quickly becoming one of Nara’s most popular events. |
