One year has quickly passed since the day the great disaster has happened. Being supported by your warm support, Japan is quickly recovering from the disaster. We would like to deliver the “Thank you” messages received from various places in Japan. We are truly grateful of your support.

A big tourism campaign called “Iwate Destination Campaign” will be launched from April through June in Tohoku (northeastern Japan). During this period JR East will offer a special pass “JR EAST PASS SPECIAL” (3-day unlimited ride). This is a limited time offer and the pass is sold at a special price of 10,000 yen to support Tohoku. So please enjoy your travel. We are waiting for you at the JR East Travel Service Center in Narita Airport and Haneda Airport!
We thank you for your support after the Great East Japan Earthquake. Last year overcoming the earthquake on March 11, Tokyo Sky Tree has reached the highest point of 634 meters one week later on March 18. And the tower was well completed on February 29, 2012. TOKYO SKYTREE TOWN, “a town with a tower” centering on Tokyo Sky Tree, will have a grand opening on May 22. As the world’s tallest communications tower, we are thoroughly preparing to be the world’s most loved tower. We are hoping to see many of you coming to the tower.
One year has passed after the Great East Japan Earthquake. We have received encouraging letters and support from so many people around the world. Thanks to the wholehearted encouragement, we are carrying on better than ever. We are grateful for those who came to enjoy skiing or snowboarding from overseas this winter. We are hoping that the circle of warm and heartfelt mind will get bigger through exchanging many smiles. We truly look forward to your visit.
Having passed one year after the Great Earthquake, tourists from overseas started to come little by little. The ninjas in Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura are trying hard every day to maintain peace in Edo in order to liven up the local town, Nikko City. We would love to welcome you here.
Because of the Great Earthquake, one of Japan’s three most scenic spots Matsushima was devastated by the worst tsunami we have ever experienced. But since the affected area was rather small, we worked hard towards the quickest possible recovery. And today we have come to the point where we can lead the recovery in tourism in the Tohoku region as one of the most famous tourist attractions in Japan.
Miyagi Prefecture is blessed with nature and delicious food. You can enjoy skiing even in April in Zao. Fishes caught in Miyagi is very good and naturally we have great sushi. We have picked the first seaweeds after the disaster. They were soft and tastier than usual years.
Cooperating with many people across Japan, we are sending out heartfelt “thank you” to those who have given us warm support. In addition to presenting the “Japan. Thank you.” logo, we distribute the special edition of ZAGAT travel guides for free at the JNTO overseas offices and the JNTO tourist information center in Tokyo. Please visit Japan in this beautiful cherry blossom season.
As part of the East Japan recovery project, Discovery Channel produced a documentary film “Rebuilding Japan” featuring people’s continued recovering efforts and their courage against all odds after the disaster. “Rebuilding Japan” premieres in March in Japan and other countries in Asia, Europe, etc. In conjunction with the documentary, a special tour to support the rebuilding of Tohoku “Discover Tohoku Tour” is now available for people coming to Japan. Participants will have the opportunity to visit the disaster area featured in “Rebuilding Japan” and to interact with people who are persevering in rebuilding Tohoku. The tour also introduces the charms of Tohoku by visiting tourist attractions such as Matsushima and Chusonji Temple.Copyright © Japan National Tourism Organization All Rights Reserved.
