The yosé has had a long existence as Japan's traditional variety theater. It is used mainly for rakugo (comic storytelling), but performances of kôdan (dramatic narration), kijutsu (conjuring) and rôkyoku (the recital of the ancient ballads known as naniwabushi) also take place here. |
