KOBE Enjoy the salty sea-breeze and nightscape of the bay area

Walking about 8 minutes to the East from the South Exit of JR Kobe Station will take you to the stylish complex called "MOSAIC". Because it is built facing the Port of Kobe, you can enjoy eating and shopping amidst the salty sea-breeze.

The amusement area features a large Ferris wheel with a wonderful view of the Port of Kobe expanse. And riding amidst the illumination at night is very romantic.

If you want to experience the sea breeze even closer, you can tour the Port of Kobe area in a boat. The "CONCERTO", which is anchored at the Mosaic Pier, offers tour courses that come together with a meal like the lunch, tea, or dinner cruise (or you can also just board the boat and skip the meal). The food is prepared by Chung chik Wing, a chef who has been awarded the highest honor of a "China Master Chef" by the Chinese mainland China Hotel Association. At the present there are only twenty chefs in the world holding this award, and only two are in Japan. This is an extremely rare chance to experience such exquisite award winning cuisine.

KOBE International shopping & cake shop headquarters browsing amidst the thick intercontinental feel of Kobe

Along with the opening of Japan to the world in the Meiji era, many foreigners came to live in Kobe. 2007 marked 140 years since the opening of the port in Kobe. There are many shops around town brimming in an international feel that capture the remnants of this. 30 minutes by train from Osaka, the Sannomiya and Motomachi area is Kobe's main shopping spot. Divided into a mountain side and ocean side, shops dot the area. "ONE WAY", which you can reach by ascending Koikawasuji on the mountain side of Motomachi Station and heading east, is a postcard shop that has a wall surface decorated with over ten thousand postcards, including cards bought in Europe. "Kaibundo Shoten", a bookstore with the most thorough stock in Japan of ocean and boat related books and items is located just past the Motomachi shopping district on the ocean side of the Motomachi Station.

And then there is the Kobe Chinatown. The Nankinmachi area is home to shops like "Moon Dragon", which carries unique Chinese items that you can't find in China. Even if you just want to take a quick peak, this shop will pull you in and before you know it, you've spent quite a bit of time there. And of course, when you come to Kobe you have to try the sweets. The headquarters of some famous shops greeted with popularity at department stores from all over Japan are actually located in Kobe. Head out to the ocean side of Sannomiya Station, go west on Sannomiya Chuo Dori Street, and you will see "PATISSERIE TOOTH TOOTH" and "Konigs-Krone" along the street. Here you can taste cakes and sweets in comfort inside the expansive shop interior. And, if you keep heading west along Sannomiya Dori Street and enter the Motomachi shopping district, you will encounter a throng of sweets shops too numerous to detail here. Some representatives are the German sweets shop "JUCHHEIM", familiar for its Baumkuchen cakes; "KOBE FUGETSUDO", which carries both Japanese and Western sweets; and the famous cake shop "Pâtisserie GREGORY COLLET". Compare the original flavor of each shop and experience sweet happiness.
