Uesugi MuseumYamagata

The Yonezawa City Uesugi Museum, which is situated on the ruins of Yonezawa Castles Ninomaru (secondary castle), houses the historical and cultural heritage of the City including historical treasures relating to Uesugi Kenshin, a warlord in the Sengoku (Warring-States) Period (1493-1573), and other national treasures such as Uesugi Folding Screen Paintings of Kyoto. Under the title of "Okitama and Yonezawa in the Edo Period (1603-1867)," its permanent collection exhibits historical and cultural documents relating to the Yonezawa domain and the Uesugi lords. Its special exhibitions feature the history of Okitama, Uesugi culture, history and art, and local artists and their works. The Yozan Theater presents the biography and career of the Yonezawa load Uesugi Yozan who restored the domain.'
