With an exterior based on an image of the life force of bamboo, the museum is home to a large collection of domestic and international modern art. The gift shop too has lots of interesting items, such as T-shirts featuring Taro Okamoto's Tower of the Sun, the symbol of the Expo '70 world fair, and glasses with motifs from Jiro Takamatsu's Shadows.
