Yamanashi Kenritsu Bijutsukan (Art Museum)

Included in the collection at Yamanashi Kenritsu Bijutsukan are many works by the great master of 19th-century French art, Jean-Francois Millet. In addition to The Sower, which shows the essence of realistic painting and is representative of Millets early period, and The Return of the Flock, from Millet's intermediate period, more than forty of his other works are here, including prints and rough sketches. In addition to exhibits of the work of Millet and the artists who surrounded him, this collection includes works by artists who have a close connection with Yamanashi Prefecture. The museum is located in a suburb of the city of Kofu, on an expansive site with an area of approximately 38,000 square meters, featuring a spacious garden with sculptures by Henry Moore. From the second floor lobby there is a splendid view of Mt. Fuji.'
